What is the (current) gist about me?

Hi, I am in the last turns (🤞) of a journey towards a PhD at the University of Notre Dame, I am co-advised by two amazing professors, Dr. Jane Cleland-Huang and Dr. Walter Scheirer. My research has focused on the deployment of computer vision onboard sUAS (e.g. drones), sharing new datasets to the community (datasets matter a lot), improving computer vision models through visual psychophysics (human-inspired models), and exploring frameworks to safely and effectively deploy innovative features onboard the limited resources of drones.

My contributions have gathered around the theme of semi-autonomous drones for search and rescue (SAR) missions. We are currently looking into the dynamic behaviour of real-world SAR missions: how can we effectively react to changes in the environment? how can we effectively leverage new information? and how can we effectively face the unknown?

All in all, I am always looking forward to explore and dig into topics between the intersection of robotics, computer vision and software engineering, for social, environmental, and meaningful applications.
